I’m a fan of the Imogene Museum Mystery series by Jerusha Jones so when I heard she had released the first book in a new series, I just knew I had to read it. Bait & Switch is Book 1 in the new Mayfield Mystery series. I really enjoyed it.Our protagonist, Nora Ingram-Sheldon married the man of her dreams and it’s their wedding night. However, the evening doesn’t turn out as planned when her husband Skip leaves to run a quick errand and doesn’t return. Things go from bad to worse when FBI agents show up demanding to know where he is. At first, Nora doesn’t believe all the awful things they tell her about Skip, but as time goes on she has to admit that maybe Skip isn’t the man she thought she knew. With the help of her close friend, she does what she can to get to the bottom of a very distressing and dangerous situation; she hasn’t given up hope of finding her husband alive and well.
Ms. Jones has introduced us to a great cast of characters. For a first book, they are well developed and believable. The story moves along at a brisk pace and held my interest enough to read the book in one sitting (stayed up way too late last night!). Nora is smart, kind, emotionally strong, and quick thinking, and I liked her immediately. This series looks like it will have an ongoing storyline; I’m looking forward to Book 2 (Grab & Go).

Like another reader, I like the author's books but feel cheated on this one. It ends half way through the story after a lame joke about a wig. Should have just put "continued in next book and pay double to find who done it". Otherwise, a pretty cute funny story with enough drama and unexpected happenings to keep it interesting.
I enjoyed the Imogene Museum Mystery series and was slightly put out when Jerusha stopped it to start the Mayfield Mystery series but after recently reading both series, I can't decide which series I enjoyed more! Suffice it to say, I highly recommend anything that Jerusha writes - she paints a picture both of the scenery and the characters that can't be put down!
I was hesitant to buy this book because I’d never heard of the author. However, the book kept me entertained and was thoroughly enjoyable
Few authors can develop characters as well as Jerusha Jones, and she does it again in here new series, "Mayfield Mysteries." With the first chapter, she has you wondering even though you don't know the characters, and by the end of the book ... well, you're still wondering (wait for #2), but by the end of the book, you've met the new group of characters, all interesting and a little, okay a lot, quirky. Unfortunately, I finished the book in two nights. Can't wait for the next in this series.

Don't even start this series unless you're prepared to read all five of the books. Nora is a worthy heroine, the relationships are heart warming, and the writing has lots of energy and just enough poetry. I made the mistake of buying this first book, got hooked and bought the second, then threw up my hands and bought the rest. Seriously. great. Reads.
The Mayfield Mysteries Book # 1 "Bait & Switch" was outstanding. The characters were well written. Nora, the primary character, makes you feel every emotion she is going through. You wish you could go to Mayfield Mansion to help her. Clarice is hot stuff. She will do anything Nora ask of he. She comes off as gruff but you know she really cares about her. Walt, Eli, Matt, Dwayne and the boys round out the cast of characters. The people of the town are like an early warning system. They see strangers who are asking for Nora or the directions to the mansion and call her right away. They are better than NORAD. It was an enjoyable book and I can't want untile the next book comes out.
When I bought this book in 2014, it just wasn't what I was looking for at the time. I love the author and was going into " Imogene" withdrawal. A few days ago, I was frustrated because I had nothing to read; then remembered that I owned this book. Two days later, I owned and read all five in the series.
Don't read this if you are in the mood for either "Imogene" or "Tin Can" (love that first book!). However, if you are looking for a mystery with twists and turns, this series is perfect. The author stretched herself with this series and succeeded. Her success is definitely a win for her readers.
