I received the book "Dark Fire Chronicles of Feyree" for free from the Publisher in order to review it. Claudia Newcorn writes books like artists paint pictures. Each stroke of her pen gives you further insight into a complicated, but real character. Her description of the surroundings and the tasks are detailed to the point of putting you into her world as she builds it. I love the characters and the story, please keep writing, so I can enter that world again.
I just recently finished reading "Dark Fire" by author Claudia Newcorn. "Dark Fire" is an entertaining story which takes two separate prophecies, two separate dimensions and weaves them seamlessly together into one book which is difficult to set down. The crux of this tale is that when the inhabitants of each dimension believe so strongly in their own prophecy which one of them is to be believed? More importantly, when all is not what it appears to be, who then is to be trusted?
In this second book of the Krisalys Chronicles of Feyree trilogy readers will also witness the coming of age of some of the younger Feyree sprytes. I am sure they will empathize with the young Feyree's trials and tribulations. They will no doubt mourn with the sprytes over the loss of their friends, their loved ones and even more importantly the loss of their innocent views of their world. Unfortunately these are all hard lessons which must be learned quickly and quite often they find those they trust implicitly are actually traitors hiding within their midst. One can only hope that the players in Newcorn's final book of the trilogy will have the strength to deal with that which is still to come.
All in all I found "Dark Fire" to be a wonderful and entertaining read. I can honestly say that I am also anxiously awaiting the publication of Newcorn's final book in this series. I found her storyline to be compelling and I felt the characters were well thought out and easy to relate to. Newcorn writes with sincere attention to detail but not so much so as to cause boredom by over description. I believe anyone who enjoys reading fantasy or who just enjoys an afternoon or evening spent on the couch with a good book will not be disappointed should they pick this one up to read. I feel that "The Krisalys Chronicles of Feyree" trilogy would make a great addition to anyone's library and that they belong there right next to other great series like "Lord of The Rings" by J.R.R. Tolkien or "Inheritance" by Christopher Paolini.
I received an advance copy of this book to read and review. That said, Claudia Newcom does a great job of continuing the Chronicles of Feyree in 'Dark Fire'. Raised from the level of sprite to a newly fledged Feyree by the rites of Krisalys, Danai and her friends find their new status as adult Feyree isn't quite what they thought it would be. New problems arise as the threat of the fire daemiani under the apparent leadership of their former podmate Pook grows stronger. Wheels turn within wheels, and one can never be quite sure of friend or foe. I look forward to the final book in this series.

This second installment is an action filled read. It also had me thinking about the deeper questions such as the nature of Truth and Loyalty. Can friendship transend differences of opinion? Does love really conquer all? You can also sense the author, Claudia, wrestling with these questions through the characters. It is as if Claudia and I are thinking and feeling this out together in a Socratic way. Good work, Claudia! Please wright #3 in the series quickly !
Wow! Such a good book!
I'm blown away by the intricate fantasy world that the author has created. Very rich, lush and detailed. And the characters are all very fleshed out, including the minor ones.
I was also pleasantly surprised with the great fight-scenes and action sequences. There was much more action than I expected and the author describes it all with such clarity and detail. It made for an exciting read, that's for sure!
If you like fantasy stuff, like Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, then you'll probably really love this series. I highly recommend you check it out, especially if you enjoy a story with a strong female protagonist.
It is the best feyree plot I have ever read! Great story, great characters, it is just perfect! Can't wait for the next book!! It is a MOST READ for anybody that loves fantasy!! You won't be disappointed!!
